We hope the following information is helpful to you in discerning how you wish your gift to be utilized.  We assure you that your contribution will be used only for the ministry, program or service you have selected and pledge our commitment to you to be good stewards of the funds you have entrusted to us.

Seminarian Education

Our Belleville Diocese is currently blessed with six (6) seminarians.  Meeting the needs of their formation  -- tuition, books, room and board and other expenses --  is approximately $47,000 per year for each seminarian.  Your contribution to seminarian education is truly an investment in our faith and the life of the Church here in southern Illinois.

Retired Belleville Diocesan Priests

Our priests dedicate their lives to further the mission of the Church, bringing each of us closer to Christ.  They celebrate Eucharist in our parishes, baptize and confirm our children, witness marriage vows, share our problems and comfort us in times of sickness and sorrow.  On both ordinary and extraordinary days, our priests have walked with us on our life's journey.

Our Belleville Diocese currently has 53 diocesan priests of retirement age – 25 who are currently retired and 28 who remain in active ministry; in five years that number will increase to 67. Your gift to our Retired Diocesan Priests will help meet escalating health care costs and be used only for their long-term nursing care, Medicare supplemental insurance and prescription medications.  Show your appreciation to the priests who have walked with you on your life’s journey;

Planned Giving

Many people would like to make a special gift to the Diocese of Belleville but need to retain their current income as well as plan for future expenses.  Making a planned gift allows the donor to further the Church’s mission while often receiving benefits back and potentially give more than they thought was possible.  Types of planned gifts can include gifts made by will, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance and charitable gift annuities.  For additional information about planned giving, click here Planned Giving or contact:  Michael Gibbons, Chief Financial Officer of the Belleville Diocese, 618-722-5011, or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
