Instructions:

The 2007-2008 Refresher Course: Internet Safety consists of Handouts and the NetSmartz Workshop. NetSmartz ® is an interactive, educational safety resource from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children ® and Boys & Girls Clubs of America for children (ages 5-17), parents, guardians, educators, and law enforcement that uses age-appropriate, 3-D activities to teach children how to stay safer on the Internet. You may need to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to access the Handouts. Please follow the process below.

   •  Print the Handouts .

   •  Read the Handouts and answer the Questions.

   •  Go to www.NetSmartz.org/presentations to request a link to the Parents/Communities Presentation. The link will be sent to your email address. Once you

receive the link, follow the instructions listed to view the presentation.

   •  Print the Evaluation and Verification of Online Training.

   •  Complete the Evaluation and Verification of Online Training. Indicate ONLINE for the facilitator.

   •  Turn the completed Verification of Online Training and the Evaluation into a facilitator at your primary location. The facilitator will send the Verification of

Online Training and the Evaluation to the Office of Child Protection. It is not until this step is completed that you have finished the refresher course.

   •  I strongly encourage you to visit www.NetSmartz.org for more information, including additional CHAT LINGO, Safety Pledges, and age-appropriate

I hope that you find this information interesting and that you will be able to keep it as a resource. Thank you for participating in the 2007-2008 Refresher Course: Internet Safety and for working or volunteering within the Diocese of Belleville.

Sincerely,

Lynn Muscarello
